We had been experiencing numerous problems throughout our Maersk Africa branches concerning surge and spike damage. Erratic power failures and uneven power flows were causing much inconvenience and expense through lost office equipment and valuable data loss, We therefore found it neccessary to implement a seriuos campaign to curb further damage from taking place. Today we are utilizing a large number of Wattronics surge protector units in the following locations throughout Africa.

South Africa

Our office experienced a 400 volt electrical surge on Friday 20th Jan. It destroyed all our protected electronic equipment.
We lost:
* Two HP laser printers and two Canon inkjet printers
* Two fax machines
* One photocopier
* One modem
Our switchboard and burglar alarm was also damaged. Fortunately for us, our computers were protected the Computer Guard SP Sonic and they survived unharmed. We also suffered no data loss and after replacing the monitors and printers, we were able to continue working. My company would like to take this opportunity to commend you on developing and supplying an excellent and very effective product, namely the Wattronics Computer Guard SP.
Over a year ago, we fitted a new security and alarm system to the Douglas Green Bellingham guest estate in Franschoek.
The alarm system and other electronic equipment used at the estate were continually being damaged by electrical surges on the ESKOM supply. Besides two TV sets and other electronic equipment having been destroyed, the alarm system, which our company installed, lost two transformers which were protected by surge arrestors. Subsequently a third and different type of surge arrestor was completely destroyed which in turn allowed damage to the alarm system.
After fitting a Wattronics Computer Guard to the alarm system, approximately a year has passed with perfect protection to the alarm equipment.
